When does the school usually start its admission process, and how can I apply?

You can follow our WeChat official account "培僑信義學校" for the latest admission updates. The admission process for new students entering in the autumn (September) typically begins in February or March. All applications must be submitted through the school's official website. Applicants wishing to apply for a place must complete the application form via the online admission system on our official website: www.puikiuxinyi.com.

Is there an age requirement for applying for Grade 1?

A

For students applying for Grade 1 of the Hong Kong curriculum, they must be at least 5 years and 8 months old by 1st September. For students applying for Grade 1 of the Mainland curriculum, they must be at least 6 years old. Age is calculated as of 31st August of the current year.

Will the school arrange a campus open day?

A

Yes, we will organise an open day in the form of an admissions briefing, which will include a campus tour.

Can students join a class after the academic year starts?

A

Can I transfer from a Mainland curriculum class to a Hong Kong curriculum class?

A

Students admitted to the Mainland curriculum at our school are not permitted to transfer to the Hong Kong curriculum at the primary or secondary levels.

A

Yes, we offer the following learning support:
1. Class groupings based on students' abilities to ensure appropriate differentiation

What are the advantages of the school's Mainland curriculum compared with other schools in the Chinese Mainland?

A

Our Mainland curriculum has distinct advantages, including bilingual teaching, specialised courses, and multiple pathways for further education. The curriculum actively explores bilingual teaching models. At the primary level, a higher proportion of subjects are taught in English. At the secondary level, the curriculum meets the compulsory education requirements of the Chinese Mainland, covering subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography, while also incorporating Hong Kong curriculum courses such as laboratory classes for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition, bilingual courses are offered in subjects including Geography, Biology, Information Technology, Visual Arts, and Global Studies. The primary focus of our Mainland curriculum is on preparing students for the Junior High School Scholastic Aptitude Examination (Zhongkao), while also allowing for other potential pathways for further education.

For the G9 IG course, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5-5 is required.
For the G11 AS course, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5-6 is required.
For the G12 IFY course, a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 is required.

Does the school serve as an HKDSE exam centre in the Mainland of China?

Yes. On 11th April 2024, Pui Kiu Xinyi School became the first and only Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) exam centre in Shenzhen, with the exam centre code SZ1000. This offers great convenience for our students taking HKDSE exams.

Does the school offer scholarships to students? What are the scholarship amounts?

A

The school offers both academic and non-academic scholarships. Academic scholarships include the Outstanding Student Award, Academic Excellence Award, Grade Subject Award, Class Academic Award, and Academic Progress Award. Non-academic scholarships include the Music/Sports/Visual Arts/Leadership/Service Excellence Awards and University Admission Award. The highest scholarship amount is RMB 200,000. Scholarships are awarded based on multiple criteria, including academic performance, conduct, competition results, and contributions to the community. Among these, the high-value scholarships (RMB 100,000 and above) include the Outstanding Student Award and University Admission Award. The Outstanding Student Award recognises students with outstanding academic and moral qualities, while the University Admission Award is given to graduates admitted to top universities worldwide.

A

The secondary section of our school operates as a full boarding system, with all secondary students required to board. Kindergarten and Primary students, however, are day students and do not board.

A

Parents of primary students can choose to live with their children in the school's Family Residence Building. The school offers different types of family residence apartments for the parents to choose from.
