PKXYS Celebrates Its 5th English Festival (Secondary Division)

PKXYS celebrated the English Festival under the theme "Soaring with Diverse Talents, Fun Learning with Creativity". The campus was filled with excitement as students immersed themselves in English through live performances, interactive activities, and meaningful peer connections.

The day began with a welcoming address by our Principal, followed by "Spotlight Ignites", a vibrant prelude performance that introduced the day's highlights and set an uplifting tone for the celebrations ahead.

Fun-learning with Diverse Talents

In the afternoon, the school was transformed into a vibrant learning space as student-designed game booths opened across the campus. English-medium academic teams curated creative activities that enabled students to practise English through play. Each team showcased its diverse talents by designing original challenges that integrated language use with teamwork and imagination. At the "Travelling Around the World" challenge stations, students engaged in interactive tasks that introduced them to different cultures while enhancing teamwork, creativity, and practical English communication skills.

Greeting Fictional Ambassadors

Another popular feature was "Greeting Fictional Ambassadors". Students dressed up as characters from English books and movies, introducing themselves and engaging in lively conversations. They brought stories to life and turned English into a fun, real-life interaction.

PKXY's Got Talent

A key highlight of the festival was "PKXY's Got Talent", an 80-minute showcase that truly brought English to life through an impressive mix of genres and skills. Students confidently took part in activities ranging from interactive debating to public speaking segments, including "The PKXYS Hotline", demonstrating strong organisation, persuasive language skills, and impressive stage presence.

Drama performances further enriched the programme through well-structured storytelling and expressive character portrayal. The Drama Team performed scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream, while a musical theatre performance, A Winter's Ball, demonstrated the integration of English with the performing arts. The Story Pilot Team added variety with a witty dubbing performance of Peppa Pig, featuring clear narration and expressive voice acting that drew laughter and warm responses from the audience.

Music performances highlighted students' abilities in rhythm, pronunciation, and emotional expression. These included original works, Let It Glow and Good Time, by the winners of the Grade 7 Lyrics Rewriting Competition, as well as musical performances such as Disenchanted and Welcome to Wonderland. In addition, a heartfelt rendition of I Hate Myself for Loving You was performed as a dedication to the Grade 12 graduating class, offering encouragement and support.

The Dancing Team's Paso Doble performance showcased strong physical expression and stage impact, bringing the audience's excitement to its peak.

The festival was concluded with a festive orchestral performance, as uplifting melodies filled the venue and brought a joyful atmosphere to the celebration. The event then came to a meaningful close as students shared messages to encourage our beloved Grade 12 cohort and extended their best wishes to the school on its 5th anniversary.
