培侨信义成功承办剑桥教师专业发展活动,期待日后精彩不断

2024年3月23-25日,深圳香港培僑書院龍華信義學校承辦由劍橋大學國際考評部主辦的劍橋國際教師培訓及數學工作坊活動。劍橋大學國際考評部(Cambridge International Education) (CIE)提供全球認可的劍橋國際高中基礎課程(IGCSE)和劍橋國際高中高級課程(A Level)課程和考試。CIE的教綱與考綱全球統一,詳細說明各個科目的教學內容和考試要求,指導教學法,確保考試的公正性和一致性。CIE定期舉辦教師培訓活動,幫助教師瞭解最新的教學方法和考試變化。

From 23rd to 25th of March 2024, Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) co-held the Cambridge Professional Development and Mathematics Workshop organized by the Cambridge International Education (CIE) . CIE provides globally recognized International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced Level (A Level) courses and examinations. Cambridge's syllabi and assessment criteria are globally standardized, detailing each subject's content and examination requirements. These resources are crucial as they do not only guide teaching pedagogies but also ensure the fairness and consistency of examinations. CIE conducts teacher training events on a regular basis to familiarize teachers with the latest teaching methods and examination updates.

3月23-24日培訓邀請了6名劍橋權威培訓官和近170名內地及港澳臺的劍橋國際學校各學科老師齊聚培僑信義,課程針對提升IG 與A Level教學和備考的能力,圍繞課程設計,高效課堂,評卷標準等幾大主題,以小組活動的形式進行深入探討和合作。培訓學科包含:AL化學、AL 進階數學、AL中文、IG英語作為第二語言、IG經濟、以及主動學習與以考促學的教學法培訓。

On 23rd and 24th March, 6 Cambridge subject trainers and nearly 170 subject teachers from Cambridge international schools across mainland of China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan came to PKXYS. The courses aimed at enhancing the attending teachers' teaching and assessing for IGCSE and A Level programs, focusing on curriculum design, class effectiveness, and marking standards. Conducted in the form of workshop, the course provided a platform for in-depth discussion and collaboration. The training covered a wide range of subjects, including A Level Chemistry, A Level Further Mathematics, A Level Chinese, IGCSE English as a Second Language, IGCSE Economics, and Enrichment Cambridge Active Learning and Assessment for Learning.

3月25日下午數學IGCSE工作坊,由劍橋考評專家Ms Sarah Gott與劍橋數學教材作者Dr Dicky Susanto向各地老師講解2025年即將開考的新考綱。培訓師從考試時長及形式調整,大綱內容變化及教學方法改善等角度與老師分享最新資訊。

On the afternoon of 25th March, we were honoured to have Ms Sarah Gott, Cambridge Assessment Manager, and Dr Dicky Susanto, Cambridge Mathematics textbook writer, presented at the Mathematics IGCSE workshop. They elaborated on the new syllabi of upcoming Maths exams in 2025 and shared the updates on exam duration, exam question types, and suggested pedagogies.

通過劍橋培訓,教師們可以反思和提升教學品質,豐富教學方法,增加對教綱和考綱的理解,學習考試評分的具體細則。這對於教師個人的職業發展以及全校教學水準持續提升都有重要作用。

Through training, teachers can reflect and improve their teaching, make use of diversified teaching methods, better their understanding of syllabi and examination criteria, and learn the specifics of marking, all of which are important to professional development of teachers and the continuous improvement of overall teaching standards of the schools.

The facilities and multimedia equipment in the classrooms made our teaching extremely convenient. The design of the sliding whiteboard, in particular, allowed trainers to efficiently engage in interactive teaching with the participants, even on the first use.

The training provided valuable insights into the marking process and examiners' expectations. By analyzing sample candidates’ responses and marking feedback, I better understood what constitutes a good answer and the common mistakes students tend to make. This knowledge will be instrumental in guiding students to structure their responses effectively and avoid potential pitfalls.

我個人非常認同蘇格拉底式提問方法,通過一系列拆解問題的發問,抽絲剝繭,引導及培養學生的獨立思考。這種方法在培訓中以多種形式被提及,並且在我的課程中將繼續發揮關鍵作用,日後我將繼續專注於基於學科目標的提問技巧。

I am a keen advocate of Socratic questioning where, over a series of questions, the scaffolding is removed and independent thinking is evolved. This was covered in many guises and will continue to play a key role in my lessons as I focus on questioning techniques based on the subject specific learning objectives.

The importance of formative assessments has been mentioned several times by the trainer. As school teachers, we are acting the role of formative assessors. The regulation we built with the students in daily teaching should offer them a stronger foundation and better understanding of the curriculum when they are facing the official Cambridge exams.

Over 25 different active learning based techniques were discussed. For assessment for learning, we discussed different techniques such as ABC model, Socrates etc. The trainer introduced many different ways to implement assessment for learning (Afl), such as four corners, exit tickets, RAG approach etc. I think this training will enable me to use Afl tactics in the classroom more effectively.

劍橋國際ASAL化學(9701)的培訓非常注重試卷評估。我與其他老師一起對樣本試卷進行了評分。當我們進行激烈的辯論並尋求與培訓師澄清時,這是非常有見地的。我現在對閱卷有了更好的理解,尤其是第三卷中的滴定和繪圖。我希望和我的學生一起完整地過一遍第三卷,這樣他們就能直觀明白到每一個分數點代表的構成是什麼。

The training for Cambridge International AS & A Level Chemistry (9701) was heavily focused on assessment. I was asked to mark sample scripts together with other delegates. It was incredibly insightful as we engaged in vigorous debates and sought clarification with the trainer. I now have a much better understanding of marking, especially for titration and graph drawing in Paper 3.I hope to go through a full Paper 3 with my students so that they will understand what each mark is for.
