he 2024–2025 Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) Secondary English Festival, held on 20th December, was a remarkable event that united the diverse and dynamic community of PKXYS. The theme for this year's festival, Be Connected to Thrive with Innovation, resonated profoundly throughout the day, underscoring the festival’s core values: collaboration, imagination, and the transformative power of language across all educational stages. This year's English Festival is specially designed around the goal and spirit of "cooperative development" for future courses. On the day of the event, all English activities were carried out through seamless collaboration across various fields, showcasing interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, cross-grade, cross-departmental, cross-regional, and cross-skill demonstrations on the same stage.

This highly anticipated festival was strategically held just before the winter holiday break, creating a vibrant atmosphere for both students and faculty to showcase their exceptional talents and creativity.

The English Festival unfolded with energy and enthusiasm, offering an impressive array of activities designed to engage and inspire students of all ages. The day began promptly with venue preparations and final rehearsals, setting the stage for a series of captivating events. The dynamic schedule featured both interactive and reflective elements, emphasizing language learning, cultural awareness, and festive joy:

Flash Mob Performance 

The 4th-floor common area transformed into an exuberant stage as students and teachers alike participated in a spontaneous and lively display of music.

Fun Booth Games

Held in the 1st-floor indoor basketball court and the 4th-floor common area, these engaging English-based games blended creativity with friendly competition. Students eagerly participated in a variety of challenges, testing both their linguistic and problem-solving skills.

Thematic Activities

·Dress Up as a Book/Film Character: The 800-seat Grand Theatre became an imaginative playground as students brought their favorite literary and cinematic heroes to life through vibrant costumes.

·Cultural Challenges, Creative Writing, and English Learning Exchange Talks: Thought-provoking discussions, cultural appreciation, and inspiring storytelling unfolded in the lecture halls, encouraging students to engage in the global conversation about language and culture.

·Hall of Compliments and Festival Present Corner: In the spirit of the season, students reflected on gratitude and generosity through heartfelt interactions, celebrating the values of community and kindness.

The Grand Finale: PKXY’s Got Talents

Undoubtedly, the pinnacle of the day was the PKXY’s Got Talents showcase, held in the Grand Hall. This dazzling performance exemplified the power of collaboration, as students, teachers, and administrative leaders from across the kindergarten, primary, and secondary sections joined forces in a captivating display of talent. The audience was treated to an unforgettable mix of music, songs, drama, and dance:

The Story Pilot Team’s creative interpretation of the 2024 Disney film lnside Out captivated the audience with its ingenuity.

The festival culminated in a breathtaking performance of Proud of You, a collaborative piece featuring students from all levels—kindergarten through secondary—alongside members of the Principal’s Office. This touching performance encapsulated the essence of the event, celebrating the unity and collective spirit that defines PKXY Schools.

Principal WONG Tang Tat Tommy and Principal Hongjun WANG delivered eloquent closing remarks, congratulating all participants and expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, coordinators, and student volunteers who played pivotal roles in the success of the festival.
