A Festive Day at the School Carnival

On 17th January 2025, the Chinese and Chinese Culture and Moral Education departments in the primary section of Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) hosted a spectacular Spring Festival event. With a series of uniquely creative activities, the event spread the joy and hope of the Chinese New Year to every teacher and student in a fun and educational way.

活動當天，老師們、同學們身著各式華服，已然為校園增添新彩。各個年級的同學們以華夏衣冠，展章服之美，揚錦繡文明。

On the day, teachers and students alike donned a variety of traditional Chinese outfits, adding vibrant colours to the campus. Students from all grades showcased the beauty of Chinese attire, celebrating the elegance of our rich culture.

The school community came together to deliver a feast for the senses, blending dance, music, and drama in a dazzling display of artistic talent. Students eagerly performed, taking turns to dazzle the crowd and receiving enthusiastic applause.

At the intangible cultural heritage-themed booths, expert artisans demonstrated their skills, with activities such as sugar blowing, sugar painting, and making Tanghulu (candied fruit on skewers) attracting large crowds. Sixth-grade students also hosted a variety of traditional activities at their class booths, including making sachets, ring toss, pitch-pot, riddle guessing, DIY red envelopes, DIY badges, and poetry relay, drawing in a steady stream of visitors. In the school canteen, students also enjoyed making Tang Yuan (sweet glutinous rice dumplings), filling the air with the warm, comforting aroma of the festive treat.This year, the VA department also prepared a visual feast for students, who appreciated excellent works through art galleries.

This year, we introduced a new tradition to mark the occasion: cleaning and decoration. Students worked together to thoroughly tidy up their classrooms and thoughtfully decorate the space, filling the entire school with a joyful, festive atmosphere.

The Chinese and Chinese Culture and Moral Education departments hope this event marks the start of a prosperous year ahead. We wish all PKXYS students success, good fortune, and happiness in the upcoming Year of the Snake. Happy Chinese New Year!
