HKDSE Kicks Off Smoothly at Shenzhen's Only Exam Centre – PKXYS

On 2nd April 2025, the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination officially commenced at Shenzhen Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS). This marks the second consecutive year that the school has hosted the HKDSE exam.

Previously, Hong Kong students residing in the Mainland of China had to travel to Hong Kong to sit for the DSE, facing various challenges such as accommodation, transportation, and time costs. Since PKXYS became Shenzhen's first DSE exam centre in 2024, students have been able to take the exam locally, significantly easing the burden on both students and parents.

The inaugural cohort of PKXYS's HKDSE candidates achieved outstanding results in 2024, with 68% of graduates who intended to pursue further studies in Hong Kong gaining admission to top three universities: the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. As a 16-year through-train international boarding school (from kindergarten to secondary), PKXYS prides itself on blending Eastern and Western educational strengths, with an integrated curriculum that combines the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and international elements. This provides students in the Greater Bay Area with diverse pathways to higher education.

This year, to ensure the smooth running of the exams, the school established a special task force to work closely with education departments from both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Measures included expanding restricted zones around the venue to minimise noise disruption, improved traffic control, and upgraded boarding and catering facilities – all designed to help students perform at their best. The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) commended the centre's efficient operations and the school's exemplary coordination.

Hosting the HKDSE for two years running is not only a milestone in Shenzhen-Hong Kong educational collaboration but also a replicable model for Greater Bay Area integration. With stronger policy support and improved coordination mechanisms, HKDSE exam centres in the Mainland of China will benefit more students, serving as a vital educational bridge linking Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and the world.
