Dream Together, Bloom Together——Primary Division Chinese Culture Festival Successfully Concludes with Pomegranate Blossoms in Full Bloom Across Campus

Carried on the gentle breeze of spring, culture came alive on campus. On 6th February 2026, the Primary Division hosted its Chinese Culture Festival under the theme "Dream Together, Bloom Together". For one vibrant day, the school was transformed into a colourful showcase of ethnic cultures. Dressed in traditional attire and carrying cultural artefacts, students immersed themselves in poetry, handicrafts, music and dance, food, and games, experiencing first-hand the depth of Chinese culture and the spirit of unity among its many ethnic groups.

Morning: A Moving Feast of Culture

As the day began, members of the Principal's Office visited classrooms to present students with carefully prepared ethnic snacks, opening the cultural journey through taste.

Students then took part, in scheduled groups across different venues, in four core activities:

Cultural Booth Games: Hands-on Encounters with Traditional Wisdom

At the Grand Hall, more than 20 booths formed a lively cultural fair:

Student-designed booths: Grade 6 students showcased creativity and teamwork through activities such as botanical dye printing, lacquer fan painting, chuiwan (an ancient Chinese ball game), touhu (pitch-pot), cuju (an ancient Chinese ball game), and traditional wooden archery.

Master crafts booths: Sugar painting, sugar figurines, and candied hawthorn filled the air with sweetness and drew delighted cheers.

Teacher-led interactive booths: Spring couplet calligraphy, traditional ink paintings of pomegranates, ethnic dances, and cultural quizzes brought teachers and students together in shared enjoyment.

Cultural Experience Outreach: Mongolian leather carving, VR traditional costumes, Han pyrography, and Dai brocade weaving allowed students to feel the warmth and craftsmanship of ethnic arts first-hand.

DIY Ethnic Art: Painting Cultural Identity

In classrooms, students used colourful markers to design traditional ethnic costumes from their imagination. Grade 2 students welcomed special guests into their classrooms, confidently presenting their artwork and sharing their creative ideas.

Poetry Gathering: Echoes Across the Centuries

At the Theatre and Lecture Hall , poetry competitions were held in full swing. Students recited classics and responded to verses, experiencing the beauty of the Chinese language through rhythm and tone, while demonstrating their literary learning and appreciation of classical poetry.

Visual Arts Exhibition: Chinese Culture in Brush and Ink

The indoor basketball court was transformed into an art gallery, displaying students' calligraphy, paintings, paper-cutting, and handicrafts from all grade levels, drawing many visitors to pause and admire the works.

Special Programme: Distinguished Guests Join the Celebration, Fostering Ethnic Unity on Campus

At 9:30 a.m., the Grand Hall welcomed distinguished guests, including Ms. WU Huan, Deputy Director General of the United Front Work Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Director General of Shenzhen Municipal Ethnic Affairs Bureau; Mr. CHEN Yiqiang, Deputy Director General of the Longhua District United Front Work Department; and Mr. LAN Lin, President of the Longhua Ethnic Unity and Progress Association. Accompanied by School Director Ms. LEE Pui Ah and Executive Principal Dr. WANG Hongjun, the guests joined teachers and students in celebrating the festival.

Ethnic costume interactive quiz: Guests dressed in Zhuang and She traditional attire engaged warmly with students, who eagerly identified cultural features and earned enthusiastic applause.

Donation ceremony: On behalf of the United Front Work Department, Mr. CHEN donated exquisite Zhuang costumes and a bronze drum to the school, symbolising the deep roots and continued transmission of ethnic culture on campus.

Afternoon: Ethnic Culture Shared Across Classrooms

In the afternoon, activities continued in classrooms:

Cultural sharing sessions: Students took turns presenting their own "cultural treasures", such as Tibetan carpet patterns, pipa models, ethnic headwear, and photographs of traditional pastries, sharing the stories behind them.

Class celebrations and decorations: Student-made spring couplets and paper-cuttings were displayed, alongside festive characters and Year of the Horse decorations, filling classrooms with a joyful New Year atmosphere.

Spring cleaning: Teachers and students worked together to clean classrooms, practising the traditional custom of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new.

This Chinese Culture Festival was more than a one-day event—it was a living lesson in Chinese culture. Through hands-on experiences, students gained an understanding of China's unity in diversity; through preparation and collaboration, they developed communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills; and through sharing and presentation, they built cultural confidence and a sense of national identity. As the theme "Dream Together, Bloom Together" suggests, China's ethnic groups are like richly embroidered blossoms painting a shared spring, bound together like pomegranate seeds—close and inseparable.

Although the festival has drawn to a close, the seeds of ethnic unity have already taken root in students' hearts. The school will continue to promote cultural education, allowing the richness of Chinese tradition and shared cultural identity to flourish on campus for years to come.
