In the recently concluded China Thinks Big (CTB) National Round, two student teams from our school stood out among numerous competitors and successfully advanced to the Global Round. Their achievement reflects not only their strong research abilities and innovative thinking, but also our school's commitment to interdisciplinary learning and academic inquiry.

About CTB (China Thinks Big)
China Thinks Big (CTB) is a global interdisciplinary research competition for high school students. Working in teams, participants investigate real-world issues related to society, technology, business, and the environment. Through research, data analysis, and field investigation, students develop innovative solutions and present their findings through academic papers and project defences.
CTB aims to cultivate students' critical thinking, research skills, teamwork, and global perspectives, making it one of the most influential academic research competitions among high school students.
Our Teams
Project Name: GradeOS – Automated Grading & AI Education Platform
Team Members: Students Cai, Bao, Ye, Zhong, Wang, Huang
Award: CTB National Round Second Honour & Harvard Global Forum Finalist
Highlight: The team successfully developed and launched GradeOS, an AI-powered automated grading system. By addressing efficiency and fairness in education through technology, it demonstrates the tangible value of innovation.


Project Title: Card Game: Disease & Health — An Innovative Approach to Adolescent Medical Literacy
Team Members: Students Xu, Guo, Zhao
Award: CTB National Round Second Honour & Harvard Global Forum Finalist
Highlights: Using the ILLNESS & WELLNESS competitive medical card game, the project integrates authoritative medical knowledge with gamified learning, innovatively promoting a "learning through play" model for adolescent health education.


Project Title: The Impact of Online and Offline Games on Adolescents’ Personality and Parent–Child Relationships
Team Members: Students Li, Lin, An, Wang, Chen, Huang
Award: CTB National Round Third Honour
Highlights: This study addresses core parent–child conflicts around gaming, focusing on parental perspectives and interaction dynamics. Through controlled comparative experiments, it rigorously examines the differentiated impacts of game types with a design grounded in real family education needs.
Project Title: Managing Academic Anxiety Among Secondary School Students
Team Members: Student Su
Awards: CTB National Round Regional Team Third Honour

Students' Reflections
Wang: Our project's implementation stemmed from continuous iteration in design and coding. From ideation to debugging, we experienced both the challenges and satisfaction of using technology to solve real-world problems. We will keep pushing forward.
Cai: Competing in the CTB National Round was a transformative journey. We built the AI education system GradeOS, strengthening our problem-solving skills. Engaging with outstanding peers broadened our perspectives, while preparing for the defence improved our communication and resilience. We will continue creating social value through innovation.
Zhong: Research once felt distant, but hands-on work showed me the importance of data analysis, logical thinking, and clear expression. Despite disagreements and setbacks, teamwork helped us overcome challenges and gain skills beyond the classroom. This experience deepened my understanding of research and the value of perseverance and collaboration.
Bao: After two years of effort, we finally reached the finals. With strong team support, we focused on innovation and developed a practical, validated product. We hope to take our project even further in the future.
Ye: At first, I joined CTB simply to give it a try, with no prior experience in software engineering. However, through working with this team, I not only truly experienced what it means to be a software engineer, but also learned many valuable teamwork skills. Moving forward, I will continue to maintain the software and contribute to solving problems through technology.
Huang: Competing on the CTB national stage, every moment reflected our team's collective effort. From late-night discussions to confident presentations, we not only earned recognition but also discovered a better version of ourselves. This journey will remain a lasting memory.
Li: Through researching the impact of games on adolescents, I gained a full understanding of academic research, from surveys to experiments. Collaborating with teammates and refining our presentation strengthened my communication skills. I learned that research requires rigour, persistence, and teamwork.
Chen: This CTB experience marked real academic growth. From analysing differences between game types to evaluating their impact on adolescents, I developed skills in research, logical reasoning, and objective analysis. It also deepened my understanding of teamwork and social issues.
Xu: As a team member, I gained valuable insights from project launch to playtesting. This experience reshaped my understanding of adolescent medical education and revealed the potential of gamified learning. We will continue improving and promoting the product to raise health awareness among teenagers.
Ms. Zoe's Sharing:
As a mentor, accompanying my students on this CTB national journey has been both a proud and deeply moving experience. I have watched them grow through countless rounds of refinement and revision, and I have also seen a side of them rarely revealed in the classroom—their passion, focus, and determination. Those moments of intensity and resilience are truly unforgettable. I look forward to seeing them carry this light onto the global stage, going further and shining even brighter.
