Secretary Alice MAK Meets PKXYS Student Leaders

On 22nd November 2024, 27 student leaders of our Student Union and House Committees were honoured to be invited by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups to participate in the “Policy Address Online @ M21”, where they exchanged views on the latest Policy Address with Ms. Alice MAK, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs of HKSAR.

Our student leaders spoke proactively and raised questions on various policies such as “Youth Post” hostel, youth exchanges between Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, and youth employment in the Greater Bay Area.

Secretary MAK expressed her appreciation for the participants’ questions and her intention to hear more opinions from young people. She encouraged our students to actively join the activities sponsored by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau. At the end of the dialogue, Secretary MAK inspired the young people, “Hong Kong's future is yours to shape!”

Ms. Alice MAK

SBS, JPSecretary for Home and Youth Affairs

Ms. Alice MAK was appointed the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs on 1st July 2022. Prior to joining the Government, Ms. MAK has been actively participating in public affairs for many years. She is well-acquainted with district and community affairs for having served as Legislative Council Member from 2012 to 2022 and in six terms of the Kwai Tsing District Council. Ms. MAK was also the Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, the Chairman of Hong Kong Ladies Dynamic Association and Member of the Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
