On 30th November, the inaugural Pui Kiu Joint Schools Sports Day concluded successfully at Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS). This event was not only a thrilling celebration of athletic competition but also a powerful cultural exchange and a moment of inspiration for the students. Renowned athletes SU Bingtian and XIE Siyi attended, adding an extra sparkle to the event.

The atmosphere on campus was electric, with students dressed in sportswear, their faces filled with anticipation and joy. As SU Bingtian and XIE Siyi entered the venue, the crowd erupted with excitement. Their presence brought an invigorating surge of athletic energy, motivating every student present.

SU Bingtian, the Asian 100m record holder and a professor at Jinan University, was warmly greeted by students. On the athletics track, he offered valuable tips on starting techniques, demonstrating each movement with precision. His focus and dedication made it feel as though he had returned to his own training ground. Students who received his guidance excitedly reported noticeable improvements in their starts, feeling faster and more powerful. The crowd cheered loudly, applauding the impressive demonstrations.

Later, Chinese Diving Team member XIE Siyi, who won the 3m springboard gold at the Paris Olympics, arrived at the venue. He started the basketball game and, alongside SU Bingtian, fired the starting gun for the athletics finals while also cheering on the student athletes. The competitors, like arrows released from a bow, raced towards the finish line with all their might, pushing their limits. The audience, regardless of school affiliation, erupted in applause, supporting each athlete's incredible effort.

At the awards ceremony, SU and XIE joined the students and teachers in reflecting on the highlights of Sports Day and sharing their personal stories. Their experiences of overcoming challenges resonated deeply with the students, inspiring them to never give up in their studies and personal lives.

SU Bingtian shared his journey of breaking his own limits, including running the 100m in 9.83 seconds. He encouraged the students, saying, "Sports teach us to never give up, no matter the difficulty. If you succeed once, it proves that your efforts were not in vain."

XIE Siyi spoke about his recovery from two ankle injuries, which required time and perseverance. He went on to win gold in both the men's individual and synchronised 3m springboard at the Tokyo Olympics and individual 3m springboard gold at the Paris Olympics. He is the first diver to achieve a grand slam in the men's individual 3m springboard, winning the Olympics, World Cup, and World Championships. He reminded students, "The most frightening thing is not failure, but the lack of courage to try again." 

The Sports Day featured six major events: badminton, athletics, basketball, football, table tennis, and swimming. Award-winning students received their medals from distinguished guests and posed for photos, creating memories they will cherish forever. The presence of SU Bingtian and XIE Siyi not only enhanced the Pui Kiu Sports Day but also instilled a spirit of perseverance and confidence in the students. Their actions and words will inspire more students to press forward and pursue their dreams in the future.

PKXYS will continue to focus on enhancing students' physical education, emphasising the importance of both mental and physical strength: "Refine the spirit, strengthen the body." This approach will help students build stronger bodies, develop resilience, and face future challenges with confidence and determination, preparing them for a brighter and more prosperous future!
