The 1st Learning Showcase of Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School was successfully held on 27th February 2025. This curriculum event was especially held to provide our Grade 7 and Grade 8 students with an authentic context and a platform for them to showcase their learning and enhance their generic skills. It is also a valuable chance for our students to share their unique learning journey that they have embarked upon with their parents.

The event kicked off with the Principal's welcome speech. Principal Wong encouraged students to learn to take risks, think creatively and take ownership of their learning and also acknowledged the dedication and commitment of our teachers and staff to nurturing our students' potential and creativity. He also commended the teachers for their effort and innovation. He concluded with special thanks to the parents for their continued support and partnership.

Following the Principal's speech, a series of performances prepared by the G7 and G8 students were presented to their parents. During the dress rehearsal, students at the Grand Theatre were thrilled and honoured to meet the school's important guests of the day—Ms GU Xiulian, Director of the China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Next Generation, and her team, who then asked the students about their learning experiences at Pui Kiu Xinyi School. Students were eager to share their diverse learning experiences and how they had benefited from learning in an integrated environment.

Performances staged in the evening included beautiful recitations of Chinese poems, stage plays, dances, and singing, among others. Parents in the audience were dazzled by the students’ talents, their self-confidence, and their outstanding collaboration.

The stunning performances were a testament to our vision and commitment to providing students with multiple platforms to learn and develop competencies. After the performance, Ms Kathy Cheung, Deputy Principal, shared how the curriculum design and the pedagogical strategies have helped to achieve the learning goals, and how the various unique educational approaches have served to empower each student with creativity and other generic skills.

The curriculum sharing session was followed by a student-led learning showcase in the classrooms where parents could see firsthand the incredible work our students had completed throughout the school year! Students also gave presentations about the course and approaches to learning and encouraged parents to raise questions.

The 1st Learning Showcase is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of our students. It also serves as an important channel for students to critically reflect on their learning outcomes and inspire them to aspire to higher performance. The entire evening was fruitful for both the students and parents. Everyone was engaged in having serious dialogues about learning. Parents left with a great sense of pride in the students’ remarkable performances, while students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of embracing challenges and learning through exploration. At PKXYS, we believe that every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and every effort, no matter the process or the outcome, is a step toward success.
