GDETO Assists Hong Kong Students in Applying for Travel Documents at School

As the summer vacation approaches, in order to meet the needs of Hong Kong teachers, students, and parents living in the Mainland of China to apply for Hong Kong travel documents for travelling during the summer holidays, the Immigration Division of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the HKSAR Government visited Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) on 25th May 2025 to provide on-campus Hong Kong travel documents application services. The team from GDETO assisted Hong Kong teachers and students at the school in applying for Hong Kong travel documents, including the HKSAR Re-entry Permit, HKSAR Passport, and HKSAR Document of Identity for VISA Purposes. This initiative was warmly recognised and highly appreciated by Hong Kong teachers, students, and parents.

Prior to the event, the school maintained close communication with the GDETO to ensure that all application documents had been completed correctly for the preliminary review. On the day of the on-site application, the staff from GDETO provided professional and efficient services, helping the Hong Kong teachers, students, and parents complete their application procedures quickly. One parent remarked, "Previously, we had to make a special trip back to Hong Kong to apply for these travel documents. The application took nearly a month and was difficult to schedule. This time, however, the on-campus application services provided by GDETO truly solve these problems."

This initiative received strong support from the HKFTU Shenzhen Consultation Services Centre, which set up service desks in our school to provide Hong Kong residents with practical information on living and studying in the Mainland, demonstrating the care of different institutions in both areas for cross-border students.

Our school will continue to maintain close communication with the GDETO of the HKSAR Government, explore more convenient measures and provide high-quality and efficient cross-border services for the Hong Kong teachers, students, and parents living in the Mainland, contributing to the integrated development of education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
