ACE Programme Term Showcase: International Curriculum G9 Student Research Poster Presentation

The ACE Programme is a three-year, long-term initiative within the International Curriculum, designed to support gifted and talented students in their personalised academic journeys. With a focus on cultivating intellectual curiosity and deep subject engagement, the programme encourages students to go beyond the standard curriculum in preparation for applications to top-tier universities.

This term, 30 Grade 9 ACE students, guided weekly by their mentors, undertook independent research, extensive reading, and critical inquiry. Their efforts culminated in a poster presentation event held last week, where students showcased their individual research projects to an audience of Grade 9 and 10 peers. The posters spanned a broad range of subjects—including biology, chemistry, economics, business, computer science, and mathematics—with many students delving into unique and thought-provoking topics. Highlights included a study on the components and health benefits of Ginsenoside, and an analysis of the economic impact of Trump-era tariff policies.

In addition to presenting their findings, each student posed interactive questions to the audience, sparking discussion and peer engagement. The event concluded with an audience vote for the best presentations, celebrating the students' hard work and academic passion.

This showcase not only reflected the depth of student inquiry but also demonstrated the value of the ACE Programme in nurturing future scholars and innovators.

This event is quite meaningful. ACE members had a great chance to showcase their learning results through the ACE Programme to other students from the International Curriculum. I enjoyed the moment presenting my poster to others; it was fantastic!

There were many highlights of this event, such as significant knowledge visualisation results, poster formats that concretise abstract concepts (which can resonate widely), and creative interactive designs. The presentation format could be optimised by adopting a layered design—for example, including a basic concept area, a deep exploration area, and a fun interactive area. It might also be possible to add physical props and allow electronic supplements, such as generating QR code links for video commentary.
