Highlights from Post-Exam Activities in the Primary School Division
In the blazing heat of July, students in the Primary School Division embraced a series of lively and creative post-exam activities. Each activity was filled with energy and imagination, allowing the children to grow and find joy in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. Highlight Moment: The campus turns into a "Happy World".
4th July
The Primary School Division held a vibrant Art Festival to foster creativity and appreciation for the arts. The event featured hands-on activities, including a variety of handicrafts and decorations. Additionally, an exhibition showcased all students' outstanding artworks. All students were invited to view the displayed pieces and vote for their favourites. Through interactive workshops and the exhibition, the festival actively engaged students in artistic expression, peer appreciation, and collaborative learning.
During the Sports Festival, different sports games were held, including mini golf, Frisbee, table tennis, football, and etc. In a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, students enthusiastically participated in diverse sports games and showed their great energy. Through this event, they not only exercised their bodies but also developed qualities such as teamwork and perseverance. By overcoming various challenges, they break through their limits, gain confidence and happiness, and embrace both study and life with a more positive mindset.
7th July
A cultural feast ignited national pride! On 7th July, the Primary School Division hosted a vibrant series of Chinese language and cultural activities. Through poetry recitation, debates, drama performances, and hands-on crafts, students showcased their outstanding talents and profound cultural heritage while also experiencing the unique charm of Peking Opera facial masks. An interactive lecture on traditional Chinese magic further captivated students with the wonders of ancient performance arts, combining education with entertainment. These post-exam activities not only strengthened students' sense of national pride and identity but also enriched their personal growth—adding brilliance to their youth while contributing to the inheritance of Chinese culture.
8th July
Exciting post-exam English fiesta at PKXYS! On 8th July, our school buzzed with excitement during the English Fiesta, where students from G1-G6 showcased their language skills in the Spelling Bee and Class Verse Competition! The event aimed to boost our students' confidence in public speaking, expand vocabulary, and foster a love for poetry. We cheered for classmates as they spelt challenging words and performed expressive recitations with creativity and flair. The team competitions made learning fun, while the pre-spelling bee practice celebrated everyone's progress in spelling. A huge thank you to our teachers and students for this unforgettable morning of laughter, learning, and proud moments!
In the morning of the same day, the Primary School Division also held the PLS post-exam activities. These activities aimed to expand students' natural science knowledge beyond the classroom through interactive learning and cultivate their environmental awareness and responsibility. The activities also tried to stimulate creativity and artistic expression through hands-on crafts and create enjoyable learning experiences for students. In the nature-themed lecture, the speaker introduced some guided interactive activities like the "Animal Mystery Box", instructing students to observe and gently handle specimens, including tree frogs and insects, to discover their unique adaptation and ecological significance. In the Terrarium Workshop, students became ecosystem designers, carefully layering pebbles, soil, and moss to create balanced and self-sustaining miniature environments. In these activities, students demonstrated consistent enthusiasm, actively engaging with insightful questions and creative problem-solving while maintaining high participation levels throughout.
9th July
Our annual math competition achieved a huge success! Students showcased their skills through compulsory questions, quick response questions, and audience challenges. Four representatives from each class battled on stage while classmates cheered and joined in. The energy was electric! The post-exam activities for the Integrated Subjects were divided into two categories. The first included class-based DIY crafts, and the second included a variety of booth games. In the burlap bag DIY craft programme, students unleashed their creativity and imagination while also enhancing their practical, hands-on abilities. Meanwhile, in the ten themed booth games—including fan painting, printing, archery, traditional pitch-pot, and foreign language games—students experienced traditional culture through play, cultivated their concentration and perseverance, enhanced teamwork, ignited interest in languages, and learnt the importance of rules. These diverse and enriching activities enabled students to grow through joyful experiences.
That same morning, some G5 students explored the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, engaging directly with a diverse range of novel and entertaining interactive exhibits demonstrating various scientific principles and technological applications. These activities exposed G5 students to cutting-edge scientific concepts and technological innovations through interactive, real-world exhibits, fostering their curiosity and appreciation for STEM fields.
10th July
The Primary School Division held an inter-class Singing Competition under the theme "The Voice of PKXYS". The competition promoted friendship and a joyful campus atmosphere while enhancing students' artistic expression skills. The performances were presented in three formats: solo singing, small group singing (up to 10 students), and full-class choir. All classes from Grades 1 to 5 took part in the competition, with class teachers organising the rehearsals. In the morning of that day, the competition was held in the 400-seat theatre and broadcast via livestream, and various awards were announced the following day. Six Zhuang children from Donglan Shenzhen Longhua Primary School in Guangxi, who came from afar, also gave a heartfelt and moving performance of a Zhuang-language song titled "Going to Grandma's Home". Their clear and melodious voices won rounds of applause from the teachers and students present. This cultural exchange activity strengthened the bonds between students from different regions. Like pomegranate seeds tightly clustered together, the children deepened their friendship, promoted national unity, and pledged to strive forward hand in hand in their learning journey.
11th July
The STEM post-exam activities provided students with a broad, immersive, and engaging experience of diverse STEM disciplines through demonstrations, interactive exhibits, science shows, and hands-on creation. The STEM festival featured booth games (VR games, laser cutting demos, humanoid robot interaction, VEX Robotics operation, floating ink art, etc.), captivating science shows illustrating principles through experiments, and scientific hands-on activities (paper cup walking robots, toy parachutes, DC motor boats). Students immersed themselves in these engaging activities. They eagerly explored exhibits, volunteered for science shows, and actively constructed models in hands-on activities. High levels of engagement and enthusiasm were observed across all activities and grade levels.
The post-exam activities of the Primary School Division serve as stepping stones for children's happy growth. The activities expand students' experiences, tap their potential, and foster boundless creativity. We hope that every child gains rich experiences and self-confidence through these post-exam activities, embracing the upcoming summer holiday with joy and excitement!
