Charge Up and Set Sail! Back-to-School Preparations Are 100% Complete!

With the start of the new academic year just around the corner, Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) is fully prepared to welcome students back with open arms and high energy. Throughout August, under the blazing sun, the school has been busy — hosting training weeks, expert-led seminars, and giving the campus a refresh — all to ensure a strong foundation for learning and a warm, supportive environment for every student's return.

Pulling Together: A United Start to the Year

On the 20th and 25th August, all staff members gathered for two whole-school meetings to align their goals and build momentum for the year ahead. Head Principal Mr. WU Yuk Chi encouraged all colleagues to be eager to learn, generous to share, courageous to take responsibility, and be bold in innovation. Together, he said, we can illustrate a new blueprint for the integration of Shenzhen and Hong Kong’s education system. Principal Mr. Tommy WONG Tang Tat reflected on the outstanding university placements of our class of 2025, praising staff for their hard work and dedication. He also laid out three key areas of focus for the new academic year, offering clear and practical guidance to enhance teaching quality.

Teaching with Purpose: Growing Together Professionally

To meet the varied needs of our diverse curriculum pathways, the school organised two weeks of targeted training across sections and subject panels. New teachers were warmly welcomed through induction sessions designed to help them settle in and connect with colleagues — with plenty of great ideas shared along the way.

Principal Advisor Ms. WONG Kwai Ling, former Principal of HKUGA Primary School, gave a session on “what makes a great lesson, and how to become a truly impactful teacher”·

Learning from Experts: Fresh Thinking for the Year Ahead

We were delighted to welcome three leading figures from the education field to share their experiences and insights during the teachers training week: Professor LI Yan, Deputy Dean of the College of Education at Zhejiang University and Director of the Research Centre for AI in Education, showed how technology can be woven into lesson planning to bring innovation into everyday teaching. Associate Professor GUO Yu from the School of Artificial Intelligence at Beijing Normal University shared ways to empower educational applications with AIGC. Mr. LIN Man Sheung, Founding Principal of Pui Kiu Primary School, gave a practical session on classroom questioning and feedback techniques — helping teachers better understand and meet student needs. Staff members participated with great enthusiasm and focus. They are ready to transform their key takeaways into their professional capabilities and fully welcome the arrival of the new school year.

New Term, New Look

To ensure students return to a safe and comfortable learning environment, the school has carried out a full clean and maintenance check of fans and air conditioners in all classrooms and dormitories. We have also expanded several teaching and activity spaces to support their learning in the year ahead.

With preparations running smoothly and the entire team ready and energised, PKXYS is set to kick off the 2025-2026 academic year with confidence and care. Looking ahead, we remain committed to our mission, focused on progression, and determined to support our students as they continue to thrive in the year to come.
