Meeting on the Appointment of the First Secretary to Pui Kiu Xinyi School by Education Work Committee of Shenzhen Longhua District Committee for 2025-2026 Academic

On the afternoon of 25th September, the meeting on the appointment of the First Secretary to Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School (PKXYS) by the Education Work Committee of Shenzhen Longhua District Committee for the 2025-2026 academic year was held in the school's 400-seat Theatre. The meeting was attended by Mr. ZHAN Xingyao, the full-time Deputy Secretary of Education Work Committee of Shenzhen Longhua District Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Work Committee, and a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Longhua District Education Bureau; Mr. WEI Shujie, Director of the Work Committee Office of Longhua District Education Bureau; Mr. Tommy WONG Tang Tat, Principal of PKXYS; Ms. LIAO Ziwei, the newly appointed First Secretary of PKXYS, as well as the Principal's Office members and teacher representatives of the school. The meeting was chaired by Mr. SHEN Xiaoyi, Executive Deputy Principal of PKXYS.

Speech by Mr. ZHAN Xingyao

During the meeting, Mr. ZHAN introduced the First Secretary and outlined three key expectations:

First, he urged the First Secretary to fulfil her duties with dedication, with a strong focus on key aspects of Party-building. He emphasised the need to enhance the quality of Party work within the school and to stay closely connected with teachers and staff, building a harmonious and collaborative working environment.

Second, he stressed the importance of setting an example by strictly observing discipline and rules, maintaining integrity, and acting as a role model within the school community, with both teachers and students jointly upholding a clean, upright, and positive atmosphere on campus.

Third, he called for unity and collaboration to further strengthen the school's Party-building foundations. He encouraged the mobilisation of wider resources and cross-sector cooperation to advance high-quality integration of Party-building and school operations, thereby enhancing educational quality and efficiency.

Speech by Ms. LIAO Ziwei

Ms. LIAO expressed her commitment to conducting thorough research to better understand the school and quickly integrate into the community. She underlined the importance of strengthening Party leadership as the cornerstone of student development, particularly in deepening national identity education for students from Hong Kong and Macao. She also pledged to provide high-quality services to address real challenges, closely coordinating with the Education Work Committee and related departments to support the school's growth and student development. Finally, she emphasised the need for strict self-discipline and collaborative effort to position PKXYS as a model of educational cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, contributing to the nurturing of a new generation prepared to shoulder the mission of national rejuvenation.

Speech by Principal Mr. Tommy WONG Tang Tat

Principal WONG expressed his sincere gratitude to Education Work Committee of Shenzhen Longhua District Committee. He reaffirmed the school's commitment to fully implementing the Committee's policies and decisions, strengthening the Party's leadership role in private education, and supporting the First Secretary's work. He also highlighted the school's ongoing efforts to explore pathways for deeper integration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong education systems, striving to build PKXYS into a locally leading, nationally renowned, and internationally recognised school with a distinctive brand, as well as an innovative and exemplary international school in the Greater Bay Area. He concluded by stating that the school will continue working hard to make greater contributions to both education in Longhua and the growth of its students.

School Visit and Research

After the meeting, Mr. ZHAN and his delegation visited the school to gain a deeper understanding of its development through an on-site inspection. He held in-depth discussions with the school leadership on the future direction of private education. During the visit, Mr. ZHAN fully recognised the school's exemplary role in fostering Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration and its significant contributions to the educational development of Longhua District. He encouraged the school to make full use of the First Secretary initiative as a strategic opportunity—grasping the momentum, aligning with its own development needs, and building on its unique strengths to actively develop more high-quality, influential brands in both Party-building and educational practice.

Looking forward, PKXYS will continue to give its full support to the work of the First Secretary, remain committed to implementing the Party's educational policies, and keep exploring effective ways to improve teaching and learning quality. The school is determined to fulfil its educational mission and contribute even more to the high-quality development of education in Longhua District.
