Embracing Autumn, A Season of Growth

As the autumn breeze stirs and the maple leaves turn red, the entire staff of Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi Kindergarten gathered for the first Teachers' Professional Development Day of 2025. This vibrant event offered teachers a relaxed yet enriching platform for interdisciplinary learning and exchange.

Professional Training: Sharpening Dreams, Enhancing Expertise

Kicking off in the Lecture Hall, all kindergarten teachers focused on the "Ten Professional Standards for Kindergarten Teachers in the New Era", starting a session on teacher ethics and conduct. Principal LUI and Head-teacher LI Jinshan shared educational philosophies and practical insights, inviting teachers to discuss the qualities of a high-calibre early years educator. Through sharing experiences and reflections, the team strengthened their professional ethics and collective growth, laying a solid foundation to drive the kindergarten's overall development.

Family Lanterns: Bright Surprises Lighting Up the Kindergarten

The warmth of the Mid-Autumn Festival shone through the lanterns crafted by children and their families. Earlier, children brought in their "Traditional Chinese Culture"-themed lanterns made at home with their parents. Now, teachers took over the baton to prepare a special Mid-Autumn surprise, decorating the kindergarten with these beautiful creations. Each class selected the most culturally meaningful and creative lanterns for judging, with all teachers carefully appreciating the thoughtful designs, colours, and patterns—reflecting each family's heartfelt connection to tradition. The rest of the lanterns were lovingly displayed in the corridors, so when children return to school, they can spot their own and feel the festive atmosphere, alongside the warm bond nurtured by their teachers.

Energy Recharge Station: Fuelled Up and Ready to Go

After a morning packed with brainstorming and artistic creativity, rumbling tummies signalled it was time for a well-earned break. No need to worry—our "Energy Recharge Station" was ready and waiting to refuel everyone! Teachers gathered in small groups over a delicious lunch, sharing stories, laughs, and reflections from the morning's activities.

After lunch, staff split into interest-based groups to join one of three creative workshops: Paper Art Explorers, Vocal Alchemy Studio, and Twist & Turn Fun. Each became a hub of energetic exchange, with teachers enthusiastically sharing their ideas, skills, and inspirations. These collaborative sessions sparked new perspectives and deepened interdisciplinary knowledge—an exciting boost to innovation in teaching.

Performance Rehearsals: Talent Unleashed, Brilliance in the Making

After a short breather, teachers jumped straight into rehearsal mode, revealing the many hidden talents that shine beyond the classroom. Whether through expressive poetry readings as gentle as a flowing stream, powerful drumbeats like galloping hooves, or spirited flag dancing full of fiery energy—every performance reflected passion, creativity, and dedication. These heartfelt rehearsals were more than just practice; they built collective excitement and energy, all in preparation for an upcoming showcase that promises to dazzle.

Team-Building Fun: Bonding Through Laughter and Team Spirit

And now, the moment everyone had been waiting for—the ultimate wind-down! Bringing a splash of colour and joy to the day, our team-building session took place in the PKXYS's open courtyard, starting with a lively group dance. With familiar tunes playing, teachers moved freely, shaking off stress and recharging their energy with every beat. The games that followed—like "March in Sync" and "Sit & Rise"—were not only great fun but also a true test of teamwork. Whether matching steps in perfect coordination or lending a helping hand to stand up as a group, teachers showed their unity and mutual support. Laughter echoed through the air, lifting spirits and making the bonds between colleagues stronger than ever.

After the high-energy activities, teachers from all Pui Kiu campuses tuned into a cross-border livestreamed lecture on "Professional Development and Educational Innovation", connecting educators across Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The session was packed with practical insights, centred around the theme "AI-Powered Education". The speaker shared real-life examples from both international and local contexts—including Hong Kong—highlighting how artificial intelligence is being integrated into the classroom. The lecture concluded with a showcase of school-based national education teaching materials and an awards ceremony.

Walking Together Towards a Promising Future

As the sun set, teachers returned home with full hearts and inspired minds. This Teachers' Professional Development Day was more than just a time for rest and professional development—it was a day of connection, reflection, and renewed purpose. We believe every teacher is like a shining star—unique and full of potential. And when we come together, we create a sky full of brilliance. With this passion and creativity, we return to our students—ready to guide, support, and grow alongside them with even greater warmth and strength.
