——Highlights of Primary "Subject Exploration Day"
With clear skies and perfect weather, it was the ideal day for exploration. On 23rd December, we celebrated the much-anticipated Subject Exploration Day, a highlight of the academic year! On this day, the usual classroom boundaries vanished. Learning wasn't confined to desks—it took place on every street, at every venue and through hands-on experiences. We took the children out into the world, connecting classroom knowledge to real-life experiences. The day sparked curiosity, honed critical thinking, and boosted communication skills, all while broadening their horizons.
Here's a look at the exciting adventures across the grade levels!
Grade 1 & Grade 3 (Hong Kong Curriculum)
Destination: Splendid China Folk Culture Villages
A step into history, a journey through China! The Grade 1 and Grade 3 children ventured into the Splendid China Folk Culture Villages, kicking off an immersive educational journey.
From trying their hand at Li ethnic grass weaving to mastering the bamboo pole dance, they worked together, enjoying the rhythm of teamwork. They also drummed on Mosuo hand drums, capturing the heartbeat of traditional culture. As they strolled through the villages, admiring unique architecture and listening to cultural stories, the children experienced the charm of ethnic culture, planting seeds of unity and cultural integration.







Grade 2 (Hong Kong Curriculum)
Destination: Guanlan Printmaking Village
In the beautifully preserved Hakka homes, Grade 2 students from the Hong Kong Curriculum didn't just learn about traditional architecture—they became "mini printmakers", inking and creating unique prints. A truly hands-on experience!






Grade 2 (Mainland Curriculum)
Destination: Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum, Guangming District
Sci-fi meets reality! Grade 2 students from the Mainland Curriculum got up close with the latest in technology, explored the world of artificial intelligence, and even took a thrilling 3D space adventure. It was a day when the seeds of scientific curiosity were planted.






Grade 3 (Mainland Curriculum)
Activity: Fun Multilingual Experience
The Grade 3 explorers from the Mainland Curriculum embarked on a fascinating multilingual journey! In the "world" of Spanish, German, and French, they immersed themselves in fun lessons and creative games, experiencing the rhythms of three languages and discovering the beauty of cultural diversity. A seed of "curiosity" has been quietly planted in their hearts.




Grade 4
Destination: Shenzhen Bao'an Energy Eco-Park
Grade 4 students visited the Shenzhen Municipal Waste Disposal History Museum to explore the intersection of technology and mathematics. By learning about the processes involved in waste-to-energy technology and calculating the efficiency of these methods, they gained a deeper understanding of environmental technology in a real-world setting. The visit sparked creative thinking and showed how technology drives green development.





Grade 5
Destination: Shenzhen Safari Park
Searching for their "Super Animal"! The Grade 5 students observed wildlife, took notes, and asked curious questions. They not only learnt about the incredible diversity of species but also developed a deep respect for life and reflected on the order and wonder of the natural world.










Grade 6 (Hong Kong Curriculum)
Activity: Immersive African Music and Culture
The rhythm of the drum beat in sync with their hearts, and the music brought them closer together. Grade 6 students from the Hong Kong Curriculum took part in an African drumming workshop led by professional musicians, moving to the strong beats and fully immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Africa.






Grade 6 (Mainland Curriculum)
Destination: Shenzhen North Station Central Park Greenway
With each step, they learnt about health; with each breath, they connected with nature. On this hike, the children took on a physical challenge while learning about the benefits of walking for heart and lung health. They gained valuable knowledge about scientific fitness practices.




A single day spent exploring beyond the classroom can often leave a greater impact than a thousand words from textbooks. We saw the spark of curiosity in the children's eyes, heard the excitement in their conversations, and felt the growth of teamwork and cooperation. This is the true essence of Subject Exploration Day—turning the world into the classroom, making learning a lively, joyful, and lifelong journey.
