On 11th March, Pui Kiu Xinyi School successfully hosted its third University Fair, bringing together 35 renowned universities from the Mainland of China and Hong Kong, as well as the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Through a series of information sessions and one-on-one consultations at university booths, more than 1,000 students from Grades 9 to 12 received the latest admissions information, helping them gain clearer direction for their future study plans.

PART.01
A Meeting of Universities, School and Students
"Why do we organise a university fair?" University counsellor Mr. JIN offered a simple answer: "It's a wonderful opportunity for universities, our school and our students to get to know one another better."

Compared with the previous two editions, this year's fair featured more participating institutions and greater diversity. According to Mr. JIN, this is partly due to the school's growing reputation and steadily increasing student body. At the same time, as the global education landscape continues to evolve, the school's College Counselling Department has invited universities from a wider range of regions and academic fields, providing students with more diverse pathways.
Participating Universities (partial list)
Asia
The University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The Education University of Hong Kong
Xiamen University
Europe
EHL Hospitality Business School
Campus France
University of Warwick
University of the Arts London
King's College London
Oceania
RMIT University
For students, the value of the fair goes far beyond collecting brochures. Here they gain first-hand information directly from admissions officers—including the latest admissions policies, programme highlights and internship opportunities—details that are often difficult to find on university websites.

For the school, the fair also serves as an opportunity to present itself to the wider world, showcasing Pui Kiu Xinyi School's educational philosophy and the calibre of its students. More than twenty student representatives were actively involved throughout the event. From guiding university representatives on campus tours to hosting sessions, conducting interviews, and assisting with event organisation, they developed cross-cultural communication skills, strengthened leadership and teamwork, and gained valuable real-world experience.

PART.02
Different Questions, Different Journeys
At the fair, students from Grades 9 to 12 arrived with different questions—and left with new insights.

For Grade 9 students, it was often their first opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a university fair. While many have yet to decide where they wish to study, conversations with admissions officers helped them begin thinking about their goals and how to make the most of their secondary school years.
Grade 10 students approached the booths with clearer intentions. They asked detailed questions about course structures and subject requirements, gathering information to guide their upcoming subject selection. One student noted excitedly on his conversation record sheet after speaking with a representative: "I just learned that this programme requires Further Mathematics — I'm glad I found out early."
For Grade 11 students, attention was already turning to the application process. Their questions focused on admissions requirements, interview preparation and application timelines, with each conversation helping them refine their plans.
Meanwhile, Grade 12 students, many already holding conditional offers, were making their final decisions. Armed with comparison lists covering campus culture, scholarship policies, research opportunities and career prospects, they sought to identify the university that would suit them best.
PART.03
Turning Aspirations into Clearer Plans
After the event, students shared their reflections.
11G2 LIU
The university fair gave me a clearer, more direct understanding of the application process for overseas universities. Through conversations with representatives from different institutions, I not only gained a better sense of the requirements for design-related programmes at my target universities, but also developed a clearer idea of my future direction. I was particularly struck by how much overseas universities value innovative thinking, hands-on skills and a spirit of exploration. These are exactly the qualities that matter most for the programme I plan to apply for, which has motivated me to keep working hard on both my academics and my portfolio.
10G1 Riedel
At this university fair, I served as a student assistant for Raffles Design Institute Singapore. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to exchange ideas with university staff on the topic of "the impact of artificial intelligence on the field of art". One viewpoint that left a strong impression on me was that "the role of humans in art lies in creation—this is something that artificial intelligence cannot replace". Being able to engage closely with university staff and learn about emerging trends was truly inspiring.
11H1 Bruce
Compared with traditional admissions information sessions, I feel that the university fair offers a more direct and engaging platform for two-way communication. It gave me more opportunities to explore and gain a deeper understanding of my target universities. With many well-known institutions from Hong Kong present, I gained a great deal of valuable first-hand information, such as admission requirements for my intended major, newly introduced programmes, and campus culture.
University representatives were equally impressed by the students' enthusiasm and thoughtful engagement.
Cynthia YIN (Admission Officer of University of Warwick )
For students, university rankings do not tell the whole story when choosing where to apply. It is important to consider your strengths, intended field of study, location, and campus culture when selecting a university. We also encourage students to learn more about career planning and programme structures, so that they can identify the path that suits them best.
Wicky Guo (Admission Officer of King's College London)
Through my conversations with the students today, I've noticed that they are very proactive and eager to learn. Although some are only in Grades 9 and 10, they are already thinking about their future studies and beginning to explore possible academic directions. I hope each student will continue to maintain this spirit of independent thinking and initiative—not just when making decisions about further education, but also in their future paths.
Loki WU
Year 2 student at the University of Hong Kong (Chinese History)
Class of 2024 graduate, PKXYS
I was delighted to return to my school as an admissions ambassador for the University of Hong Kong and share my experiences with younger students. For those interested in applying to HKU, I would recommend attending the university's Information Day and participating in related academic activities. Explore your interests, set goals based on them, and work towards those goals step by step.
Iris XU
Year 2 student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Biotechnology)
Class of 2024 graduate, PKXYS
In terms of exam preparation, my advice is to always ask questions when you don't understand something—especially when it comes to key concepts. Once you have a clear grasp of the concepts, you will better understand what each question is really testing. When practising past papers, the key is to become familiar with different question types and know how to approach them.
Coco CHEN
Year 2 student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Biotechnology)
Class of 2024 graduate, PKXYS
Focus fully when studying, and make time to relax when it's time to rest—this will make you more efficient. HKUST is a very enjoyable place to study: the sea views are beautiful, there are many student societies, and it's easy to make friends. Each faculty also offers plenty of opportunities for activities and outings. We warmly welcome you to apply!

The significance of a university fair may lie precisely here: it helps bridge information gaps and brings new possibilities into view. The conversation sheets filled with notes are not only records of information, but also the starting points of future ambitions.
More than just an event, the fair opens a window—allowing the world to see Pui Kiu Xinyi School, while enabling its students to look outward to the wider world. Standing at that window, they are not only observing, but asking questions, reflecting deeply and beginning to build their own paths towards the future.
